Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my passwords for Online Account Access (for Albridge and Streetscape websites)?
These passwords are emailed to you, and you should keep them in a safe place for future use on the Albridge and Streetscape sites.  If you misplace your password for Streetscape,   Securities Service Network will need to give you a new password, which can take up to two business days to assign. Please contact your Client Liaisons immediately if you have forgotten either of these passwords.

Which website should I access for account information?
MyStreetscape: This website shows information for your AdviceOne brokerage accounts. From Streetscape you can view current account balances, view transactions within the account, as well as access statements and records of the account. MyStreetscape provides the most up-to-date information for your accounts.
Albridge: This website allows you to run reports similar to those shown in your meetings with your advisor. Albridge allows you to see all of your accounts (including accounts that are not AdviceOne brokerage accounts) within one report, run reports from different time periods, and see the returns of each position within your accounts. Albridge shows information that is generally on a 1-3 day lag.

What if I can’t remember the password to open encrypted email attachment?
Please contact your Client Liaisons, as they will be able to remind you of the password you chose to protect the security of the documents we email to you.

I’d like to talk to my advisor.  What are my options?
Please call or E-mail your Client Liaison, who will work diligently until your questions are answered to your satisfaction.  If you would still like to speak with your advisor, your Client Liaison will schedule a phone appointment with your advisor—a specific time for your advisor to call you so you can both avoid “playing phone tag.”

How do I make a withdrawal?
Many of our clients take a systematic withdrawal on a monthly basis.  Your check can be mailed to your home or directly deposited into your checking account.  We can have state and federal taxes withheld from IRA accounts.  You may also like to take a one-time distribution.  From IRAs and tax-deferred vehicles, this would require your signature.  From non-qualified accounts, a check usually can be distributed without your signature after speaking with your advisor.   Please allow 10 days from our receipt of your form to receive your check.

How long will it take to receive a cash disbursement from my brokerage account?
From non-qualified accounts, usually 7-10 business days.  Usually you can be provided with a checkbook, and a check can be drafted for any amount that is in the money market account within your brokerage account.  From IRAs, after we receive your signature, usually 7-10 business days.

How do I make a check payable to be invested into my brokerage account?
Generally, checks should be made payable to NFS (National  Financial Services). If it is a small account like a Roth IRA, your investment may be held directly by a mutual fund company.  If you are unsure, please contact us.  Due to the USA Patriot Act, we are unable to accept Bank Checks or Cashier’s Checks, only personal checks.

How should I write a check for my investment advisory fee or my annual financial planning fee?
Please make your check payable to AdviceOne Advisory Services, LLC, which is our Registered Investment Advisor, and is the entity through which we provide our fee-based financial planning advice.

I’m about to turn 70 ½.  How do I handle my Required Minimum Distribution?
For all of our clients over the age of 70 ½, we keep track of distributions.  If you hold accounts with another firm and take a distribution, please notify us so we may update our records.  If you are concerned that you have not satisfied your current year total required distributions, please notify us by December 1st so that we can expedite your withdrawal for the current year.

Why is there an IRA Fee charged to my account?
All brokerage IRA accounts will be charged a $35 annual maintenance fee, as NFS is responsible to report tax information on these accounts to the IRS.  You will receive a bill at the end of each year from NFS.  If there is enough cash in the account, you can choose to have the fee debited from your IRA.  Or, if you prefer, you can write a check (potentially tax-deductible) payable to NFS and mail it to NFS in the envelope provided.  AdviceOne does not receive this fee.

What if my address changes?
Please E-Mail us and we will update your records.  We may need to send you some paperwork to return to us.

What’s different about Roth IRA conversions for 2010?
There are 2 major differences.  First, there is no longer an income limit pertaining to Roth conversions.  Prior to 2010, couples or individuals with adjusted gross income of $100K were precluded from making Roth conversions.  Beginning in 2010, there are no income limits; therefore anyone can do a Roth conversion.  Secondly, 2010 is a special tax year for Roth IRA conversions.  A conversion in 2010 triggers a taxable event which may be included in your 2010 income or instead, delayed, including half in your 2011 income and half in your 2012 income.
