CT National Guard’s “Operation E.L.F.”

In lieu of a holiday party for AdviceOne clients, this year the advisors and staff decided to do something special for the families of soldiers deployed overseas. They teamed up with Maneeley’s Banquets and Catering in South Windsor to host a Holiday Breakfast Party on December 19 for the families of Connecticut military personnel who are separated during the holiday season due to deployment. The event was held in conjunction with the Connecticut National Guard, whose volunteers distributed toys to the children of service men and women. The banquet room was filled with more than 400 people, including Governor Jodi Rell.

“The response from our clients was overwhelming. They gave checks, gift certificates, and mountains of toys. They donated their time as well, by transporting the toys to the Hartford Armory to be wrapped. The day of the party, our staff and clients volunteered their time to set up the party, bus tables, distribute toys, wash dishes and clean up after the party. We knew we could count on them to help make the holidays a bit brighter for these families,” said AdviceOne President Michael P. Grossman, CFP, CFS.
